LHC Rawalpindi bench acquits Four accused in blasphemy case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench has acquitted four defendants in a blasphemy case, overturning their death sentences handed down by the sessions court.

The bench approved the appeals of the four individuals, who had previously been sentenced to death in a case related to blasphemy and insulting the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle in Rawalpindi had registered a case against them on September 12, 2022, under the Blasphemy Laws and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

The accused had been sentenced to death by the sessions court, but their appeals against that verdict were accepted by the Lahore High Court, resulting in their acquittal.
