PTI Leaders Seek NA Speaker’s Assistance for Meeting with Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: A senior delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) visited National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad on Friday, requesting his support to facilitate a meeting with their imprisoned leader, Imran Khan. The PTI representatives also expressed concerns over delays in officially recognizing Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas as opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate.

In response, Ayaz Sadiq stated that if PTI provides alternative names for the opposition leadership, the proposal would be considered. The PTI delegation emphasized the urgency of arranging a meeting with Imran Khan, who remains in custody, and urged the speaker’s office to assist in setting up this interaction, as they have been unable to meet their leader in prison.

Sadiq assured them he would look into the matter and requested time until Monday to provide a response.

Regarding the notification of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas as opposition leaders, the speaker cited legal complications preventing the issuance of formal notifications.

The PTI leaders indicated they would consult with Imran Khan before submitting any alternative names for the opposition posts in both houses, emphasizing that no decisions would be made without the party chief’s approval.
