LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially declared winter vacations for all educational institutions in the province, according to a notification issued on Thursday.
The Education Department of Punjab stated that winter holidays will commence from December 22, 2025, and will continue until January 10, 2026. Schools are expected to reopen on January 10, marking the resumption of the academic session.
Earlier, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat revealed that the matriculation and intermediate examinations will now be scheduled after Eid ul Fitr, moving away from the original timetable. The matric exams were initially planned to start on March 3, but the new schedule will be announced after the Eid holidays.
In October, the Punjab School Education Department also revised school timings to combat worsening smog conditions. Under the new timetable, classes will begin at 8:45 am and end at 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, schools will close earlier at 12:30 pm.
