ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to nominate senior politician and former Minister of State Abid Sher Ali for the upcoming by-election to fill the Senate seat that became vacant after the passing of Senator Irfan Siddiqui.
Sources within the party revealed on Thursday that Abid Sher Ali is prepared to submit his nomination papers tomorrow, as part of the party’s efforts to maintain experienced and influential members in the Senate.
The vacant seat arose earlier this week following the death of Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a well-regarded legislator and renowned columnist who contributed significantly to parliamentary debates and public discourse.
Party officials explained that the decision to field Abid Sher Ali was made after thorough consultations, considering his extensive political background and long-standing loyalty to the PML-N.
The Election Commission is expected to soon announce the official schedule for the by-election, prompting preparations from all parties involved.
