WEB DESK: In a remarkable achievement, Muhammad Hashir, a student from Balochistan Residential College Loralai, has secured a bronze medal for Pakistan at the prestigious International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2025. This global event took place in Sirius, Russia, from November 23 to December 2, and brought together the most talented young minds from 80 countries to compete in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Hashir distinguished himself among hundreds of competitors under the age of 16, showcasing exceptional problem-solving skills and scientific knowledge that brought honor to Pakistan on the international stage. His outstanding performance contributed to Pakistan’s proud representation at this esteemed competition.
The Pakistani delegation consisted of six carefully chosen students who qualified through a rigorous national selection process organized by the Pakistan Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Alongside Hashir, the team included Muhammad Zakariya from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Sattar from Balochistan, Mahendra Maheshwari from Sindh, Yasir Habib from Punjab, and Hamdan Ishaq from the Federal Region. The team was guided by experienced mentors who supported them through both theoretical and practical science exams.
The IJSO is considered one of the most distinguished annual science contests worldwide, aimed at nurturing young scientific talent and providing a platform for countries to showcase their students’ abilities. Pakistan’s participation underscores the country’s ongoing dedication to advancing science education and youth development in STEM fields.
The Pakistan Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology congratulated all the participating students and their mentors, celebrating this achievement as a testament to the dedication of Pakistan’s young scientists and the hard work of their teachers.
