Dr. Warda Murder Case: Court Extends Physical Remand by Three Days

WEB DESK: A local court has extended the physical remand of suspects involved in the murder case of Dr. Warda by three more days.

The accused, who had previously completed an initial three-day remand, were brought before the judicial magistrate earlier today. After a request from the police seeking additional time to advance their investigation, the court approved an extension for another three days.

Dr. Warda’s murder, a case that has garnered substantial public attention, remains under investigation as authorities probe the motives and details surrounding the incident. The extended custody will allow investigators to carry out further interrogations and gather evidence. Upon completion of the renewed remand period, the suspects will be presented before the court again, where subsequent legal proceedings are anticipated.

Previously, an anti-terrorism court had also sanctioned a three-day remand for the suspects following their initial arrest in connection with the case.

The post-mortem report confirmed that Dr. Warda succumbed to strangulation after enduring torture. While several individuals, including the primary suspect’s husband, are currently detained, one of the main accused, Shamrez, remains at large. This has intensified public outrage and frustration.

In response, doctors and hospital staff across the province have launched protests, with medical services disrupted due to strikes in multiple districts such as Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Upper Hazara.
