Pakistan Navy launches Fourth Hangor-Class Submarine ‘Ghazi’ in China

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy has marked a significant achievement with the launch of its fourth Hangor-class submarine, GHAZI, at the Shuangliu Base in Wuhan, China. This milestone signifies that all four submarines being constructed in China are now undergoing intensive sea trials and are nearing their formal handover to Pakistan.

Under an agreement signed between Pakistan and China, a total of eight Hangor-class submarines are being acquired. Of these, four are being built in China, while the remaining four are slated for construction in Pakistan at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd (KS&EW) under a comprehensive Transfer of Technology (ToT) arrangement.

Equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, these submarines will possess the capability to engage targets from extended distances. The Hangor-class submarines are expected to play a crucial role in promoting stability and ensuring peace within the region.

The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials from both nations, reflecting the growing strategic partnership and strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and China.
