WEB DESK: An American publication has revealed that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Fitna al-Khawarij, is conducting terrorist activities within Pakistan using American weapons left behind in Afghanistan, reinforcing Pakistan’s persistent assertions regarding this issue.
The report by The Geopolitics highlights that TTP militants continue to launch violent operations targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It notes that advanced US-manufactured weaponry is now in the possession of terrorist factions operating from Afghan soil.
The publication indicates that over $7 billion worth of American military equipment was left behind following the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, with a significant share now circulating among militant groups. This cache reportedly includes M4 and M16 assault rifles along with advanced night-vision equipment, significantly enhancing the operational capabilities of these groups.
The report also points out that US-made weapons are openly traded on Afghanistan’s black market, where they are being acquired by extremist factions such as the TTP. This unchecked trafficking of arms has directly contributed to the rise in cross-border terrorism that has severely impacted Pakistan, according to the magazine’s findings.
Pakistani officials have long asserted that militant factions are utilizing these abandoned American weapons for attacks within their borders, and the publication’s confirmation is viewed as a critical validation of their claims. Islamabad has frequently raised concerns about this issue at international platforms.
Security experts argue that the report emphasizes the dangers posed by the unrestrained spread of sophisticated weaponry in the region. It bolsters Pakistan’s call for swift global measures to prevent terrorist organizations from leveraging these arms to destabilize regional security.
