KARACHI: Authorities have recovered the bodies of an Afghan woman and her three young children from a residence in the Sohrab Goth neighborhood, officials confirmed on Sunday.
Police stated that the victims—a woman aged around 30 and her children, including a seven-year-old daughter and two sons aged four and two—were discovered inside a house located in the Ganna Mandi area. Initial observations indicated signs suggesting death by hanging, though officials emphasized that the exact cause will be determined after post-mortem examinations.
The woman’s husband, identified as Najeebullah, has been taken into custody for questioning. According to police, he is employed at a local vegetable market. Investigators said the family had been residing in the area for a considerable period.
SSP East Zubair Nazir, speaking to the media, termed the incident deeply distressing and noted that it was premature to conclude whether the deaths resulted from homicide or suicide until forensic reports are completed.
Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjr has ordered a thorough inquiry into the case. He requested comprehensive reports from SSP East and instructed law enforcement agencies to ensure a transparent investigation. The minister stressed that those responsible must be identified and held accountable, and that justice should be ensured for the affected family.
