Shaheen Chowk underpass set to open today

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman, Mohammad Ali Randhawa, visited the Shaheen Chowk underpass project site ahead of its inauguration today, assessing the progress across various aspects of the initiative.

During the visit, senior officials provided a detailed briefing on the project components, highlighting that the underpass had been completed in a remarkable 63 days. They confirmed it would be opened to traffic later in the day.

Randhawa emphasized that the Shaheen Chowk underpass would enable signal-free travel, offering significant relief to the area’s traffic flow. He noted that this development would not only address congestion issues in Islamabad but also save commuters valuable time and fuel.

He expressed satisfaction with both the speed and quality of the construction, attributing its early completion to enhanced project management and inter-departmental coordination. The chairman reaffirmed that infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic flow remained a central focus, especially as the city’s growing number of vehicles continued to strain its road network.

Officials added that the underpass’s opening would immediately benefit motorists at one of Islamabad’s busiest intersections, particularly during rush hours.
