PESHAWAR: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating the murder of Dr. Warda has handed over its findings to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Dr. Warda, a physician at Benazir Shaheed District Hospital in Abbottabad, was reportedly abducted by her friend Rida Jadun on December 4, 2025, and was murdered with the assistance of accomplices Nadeem, Parvez, and Shamrez.
After the recovery of her body, medical personnel staged a protest outside Ayub Teaching Hospital demanding justice for the victim. Sources indicate that the JIT has identified certain police officers responsible for neglect in the case. A member of the investigation team mentioned that the next step involves the provincial government deciding on appropriate disciplinary or legal action.
In a statement to the media, Ishaq Zakaria identified Rida as the principal suspect in Dr. Warda’s murder and stated that the report recommends punishments based on the culpability of each police officer involved. Zakaria also disclosed that Shamrez was hired as a hitman, with evidence suggesting that Rida and her husband, Haider, had communicated with him via mobile phones used by their employees.
The submission of the JIT report marks a significant milestone in this high-profile case, with attention now turning to the provincial government’s response regarding accountability and sentencing.
