Bangladesh rules out playing T20 world cup matches in India

DHAKA: Bangladesh has decided not to play its T20 World Cup matches in India, following the release of pacer Mustafizur Rahman by his Indian Premier League franchise amid rising diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul confirmed the decision on Sunday, stating that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had made the call earlier in the day.

“Bangladesh will not travel to India for the World Cup,” Nazrul said, adding that the country would not tolerate any form of disrespect toward its cricket team or players. “We will not accept any insult to Bangladeshi cricket or cricketers,” he emphasized.

The development comes at a time of strained relations, which appear to have influenced the board’s stance on participating in matches hosted in India.
