Gold prices in Pakistan experience a sharp rise, driven by an upswing in global rates

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan and internationally saw a notable surge on Friday following a two-day decline.

As reported by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), 24-karat gold experienced an increase of Rs3,400 per tola, reaching Rs469,562, driven by rising global rates and consistent investor interest.

Similarly, the price for 10 grams of 24-karat gold rose by Rs2,915, settling at Rs402,573, as stated by the APSGJA.

The price of 10 grams of 22-karat gold also witnessed a rise of Rs2,672, reaching Rs369,038.

Globally, gold prices climbed by $34 per ounce, closing at $4,472. The surge is attributed to sustained demand for precious metals amidst prevailing economic uncertainties and fluctuating currency dynamics.

Silver prices followed suit, with a rise of Rs70 per tola for 24-karat silver, bringing the cost to Rs8,195. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat silver increased by Rs60, now priced at Rs7,025.
