Dr. Yasmin Rashid challenges May 9 sentences in Lahore High Court

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid submitted appeals to the Lahore High Court on Friday, contesting her convictions in three distinct cases linked to the events of May 9.

Represented by her lawyer Rana Muddassar Umar, she argued that the trial court had delivered its verdict prematurely, without a thorough examination of the evidence pertinent to each case.

Dr. Rashid urged the high court to invalidate the convictions in all three instances, alleging that the trials were conducted in haste and failed to adhere to fundamental principles of justice.

As part of her petition, she requested the court to suspend her sentences until a final judgment is reached on her appeals.

The convictions against the PTI leader stem from cases registered at the Gulberg, Racecourse, and Nasirabad police stations in connection with the May 9 protests.
