Ex CM Punjab Parvez Elahi charged in Gujrat development corruption case

LAHORE: The Lahore Accountability Court indicted former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and others in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) corruption case linked to Gujrat development projects.

Judge Rana Arif presided over the hearing, with Elahi, the accused, and their counsel Aamir Saeed Raan in attendance. Charges were formally framed against all involved, marking a significant step in the case.

Elahi and the others pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations. The court then summoned NAB prosecution witnesses to provide evidence.

The reference accuses Elahi and others of corruption in Gujrat’s development schemes. A supplementary reference was later added, including two more accused — Suleman Ahmed and Muzaffar Iqbal.

The court adjourned proceedings until January 29, when NAB witnesses are set to testify as the case enters the evidence stage.
