KARACHI: At least 33 people, including women and children, are still missing following a massive fire that engulfed Gul Plaza, a major shopping center on M.A. Jinnah Road, according to ARY News on Sunday.
Families of the missing have been approaching the district administration to register details of their loved ones. Authorities fear that some individuals may still be trapped beneath the rubble.
The Sindh government has instructed rescue and firefighting teams to intensify search operations to locate anyone possibly stuck inside the damaged structure. Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has personally contacted the Karachi Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner of South District, directing them to ensure all missing persons are traced.
To assist the public, the provincial government has set up emergency helplines to respond to inquiries related to the tragic incident. The South Zone Police have also launched a dedicated helpline following orders from provincial authorities.
