WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to join a proposed Gaza “Board of Peace,” an initiative aimed at addressing the humanitarian and political situation in the Palestinian territory.
The Foreign Office confirmed on Wednesday that Pakistan has officially received the invitation to become part of the peace forum being set up for Gaza.
While responding to questions from the media, the FO spokesperson stated that Pakistan remains committed to contributing constructively to international efforts focused on peace and stability in the region.
He added that Islamabad is in constant coordination with global partners to support initiatives seeking a sustainable and just resolution to the Gaza crisis, stressing that any lasting settlement of the Palestine issue must be consistent with relevant United Nations resolutions.
