Indian forces detain multiple Kashmiri youth in IIOJK

WEB DESK: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian security personnel have apprehended numerous Kashmiri youths across various areas of the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, more than a dozen young individuals were taken into custody during cordon and search operations, house raids, and crackdowns in Srinagar and Budgam districts.

Meanwhile, authorities have intensified restrictions under the pretext of maintaining security ahead of India’s Republic Day, which falls on the upcoming Monday. Security forces have increased vehicle and passenger searches throughout towns, villages, and along highways, adding to the hardships faced by the local population.

The Jammu and Kashmir Displaced Justice Forum has called on the United Nations to play a role in facilitating a fair and peaceful resolution to the long-standing Kashmir conflict. The forum’s statement stressed the importance of recognizing the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, in line with international law and UN resolutions.

Separately, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, condemned the ongoing arbitrary profiling and targeting of mosques, imams, and religious seminaries by Indian authorities in IIOJK. In his statement, he also pointed out that journalists covering these incidents are facing systematic harassment, intimidation, and suppression.
