LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the first Green Policing Unit in the history of Pakistan, marking the launch of electric vehicle patrolling in the country.
The Chief Minister inspected the electric patrol vehicle of the Green Policing Unit and also drove the vehicle herself.
She was given a detailed briefing on the unit and the features of the electric vehicles.
According to the briefing, the eco-friendly electric vehicle has a range of 410 kilometers on a single charge and can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in about thirty minutes.
The vehicle is equipped with a modern surveillance and public address system, police lights, a 360-degree camera and speed detection equipment.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed a gradual increase in the number of electric vehicles for the Green Policing Unit and ordered steps to expand the unit to other districts in a phased manner.
