KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar has provided an update to the Additional Inspector General (AIG) regarding the process of filing an FIR related to the tragic Gul Plaza fire.
During a press briefing, Lanjar highlighted the importance of clarifying various aspects of the incident. He confirmed that instructions have been given to the AIG to proceed with registering the case in the name of the state, considering the severity of the tragedy. He added that a comprehensive fact-finding inquiry will reveal all details about the incident.
The Home Minister assured the affected families and the public that the government is committed to justice and will take strict action against those found responsible for the devastating event.
In addition, Lanjar discussed ongoing joint efforts to combat banditry in the Katcha region. He stated that operations are actively targeting dacoits and emphasized that coordination between provinces is crucial for maintaining national security.
He also mentioned that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised the Sindh government’s progress on its “surrender policy,” describing it as encouraging. Lanjar said her positive remarks about the Sindh Police and Pakistan Rangers Sindh have uplifted the morale of security forces.
Lanjar further noted that this cooperation reflects the broader vision of President Asif Zardari for national unity. He revealed that targeted actions are being taken along the Sindh-Punjab border, with successful operations recently conducted in Ghotki and Kashmore, in collaboration with the Regional Police Officer of Bahawalpur.
