Pakistan to finalize World Cup participation in India soon

WEB DESK: Pakistan is expected to make a final decision in the coming days regarding its cricket team’s participation in the T20 World Cup in India. This follows an in-depth meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Earlier reports suggested that the team would take part in the T20 World Cup matches in India. However, conflicting information has surfaced. While some sources claim Pakistan will proceed with the tournament, others indicate the possibility of withdrawal.

Sources also revealed that Pakistan plans to file a formal protest with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over Bangladesh’s exclusion from the World Cup. Additionally, Pakistan has reportedly decided to boycott its scheduled World Cup match against India. This decision was allegedly made during a high-level discussion involving the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The Pakistan-India clash had been set for February 15 in Colombo. This high-profile matchup is one of the most anticipated in international cricket, and its cancellation could inflict substantial financial losses on the ICC. Analysts view Pakistan’s protest and the proposed boycott as significant moves amid intensifying tensions.
