Islamabad blast martyrs laid to rest amid tight security

ISLAMABAD: Funeral prayers for the martyrs of the Islamabad suicide bombing were offered at Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra and Imambargah Jamia Sadiq under strict security arrangements, as the city remained tense and grief-stricken.

Prayers for eleven martyrs were held at Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra, while funeral prayers for three others took place at Imambargah Jamia Sadiq, after which they were laid to rest. Separate absentee funeral prayers were also offered for a total of 33 martyrs.

Federal ministers, senior police officials, religious scholars representing various schools of thought, political figures, and a large number of citizens participated in the funeral gatherings. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed as the coffins arrived, with mourners overcome by emotion.

The funeral prayer at Imambargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra was led by Allama Hussain Muqaddasi, while Agha Sheikh Muhammad Shifa Najafi led the prayers at Imambargah Jamia Sadiq in Sector G-9. Law enforcement agencies remained on high alert, ensuring tight security throughout the proceedings.

Participants strongly denounced the terrorist attack, offered prayers for the eternal peace of the martyrs, expressed solidarity with the bereaved families, and called for swift action against those responsible.
