LAHORE: With the commencement of Ramadan 2026, school schedules across Punjab have been updated to accommodate fasting students and staff.
A notification issued by the Punjab Government’s School Education Department on February 16 outlines the new timings for educational institutions during Ramadan.
According to the directive, single-shift schools will operate from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, with Friday classes ending at 12:30 PM.
In schools with double shifts, the morning session will run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, while the evening shift will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the double-shift schools will function from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
The notification also specifies that girls’ schools will start and conclude their sessions 15 minutes earlier than the standard times.This schedule will be in effect throughout Ramadan to facilitate students and teachers in balancing their academic responsibilities with religious observances.
Ramadan in Pakistan is anticipated to begin on February 19, 2026, depending on moon sighting. During this holy month, Muslims observe fasting from dawn to sunset, increase their prayers and Quran recitations, and focus on charitable activities.
