KARACHI: The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) conducted an awareness session at Government Girls Secondary School, Korangi 6, as part of its ongoing Social Mobilization Program to promote cleanliness and responsible waste management among students.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a respectful tone for the ceremony. Representatives from SSWMB engaged students in an informative session focused on proper waste segregation, safe disposal practices, and the shared responsibility of maintaining a clean environment.

Students enthusiastically took part in the program, presenting speeches, role plays, tableaux, and national songs that highlighted the significance of environmental protection. A special feature of the event was an exhibition of creative products made from recycled materials, demonstrating how waste can be transformed into useful items through innovation and awareness.

Teachers also addressed the gathering, stressing that schools play a crucial role in shaping students’ habits and attitudes. They emphasized that promoting cleanliness within educational institutions helps build a sense of civic responsibility among young people.
Managing Director SSWMB, Tariq Ali Nizamani, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. He praised the students for their confidence and creativity, describing them as powerful agents of positive change. He noted that involving youth in environmental initiatives is key to fostering a long-term culture of cleanliness and sustainability.

He reiterated that SSWMB continues to collaborate with schools and communities to strengthen awareness about responsible waste management and environmental care.
Extending his Ramadan greetings to the students and faculty, he remarked that the holy month teaches lessons of purity, discipline, cleanliness, and responsibility. He urged citizens to especially prioritize keeping their surroundings clean during Ramadan.
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic tree plantation by the Managing Director on the school grounds, reaffirming the board’s dedication to environmental preservation and a greener future. Students and teachers expressed appreciation for SSWMB’s efforts and pledged to incorporate cleanliness into their daily routines.
