ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to summon a joint sitting of Parliament on March 2 to formally inaugurate the new parliamentary year.
According to official sources, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has prepared and forwarded a summary to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which will subsequently be sent to President Asif Ali Zardari for constitutional approval.
President Zardari is scheduled to deliver an address to members of both houses during the joint session in Islamabad. His speech will mark the official commencement of the new parliamentary year of the National Assembly.
The presidential address is expected to highlight the government’s legislative roadmap, key policy objectives and priorities for the upcoming year, while setting the broader direction for parliamentary business.
