Chaman gas cylinder explosion kills 7, injures 25

CHAMAN: A tragic incident in Balochistan’s Chaman resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals, including five children, with 25 others sustaining injuries when a gas cylinder detonated inside a local residence on Thursday.

According to police reports, a considerable gathering was present at a house in the Torpal area during a community event involving the distribution of lassi when the blast occurred. Initial investigations suggest that a 20-kilogram gas cylinder stored in the kitchen erupted unexpectedly, causing the collapse of several rooms and leading to casualties.

Emergency services, along with police personnel, swiftly responded to the scene, transporting the injured and deceased to nearby hospitals for medical care and autopsies. Authorities also summoned a bomb disposal team to analyze the explosion and determine its precise cause.

This incident follows a similar tragedy last week in Karachi, where a gas cylinder blast in a residential building in the Soldier Bazaar area led to the deaths of 13 people, including women and children. The explosion occurred on the first floor of a multi-story complex in a densely populated neighborhood.

Additionally, last month, a gas cylinder explosion at a hotel in Usta Muhammad injured one employee, while other staff members managed to evacuate the premises. The blast caused structural damage to the building but resulted in no fatalities.
