Tensions along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border escalated sharply overnight as the Pakistan Air Force entered the arena, carrying out precision strikes that destroyed a major Afghan ammunition depot in Nangarhar province, security sources said. The strikes followed unprovoked cross-border firing by the Afghan Taliban, prompting Pakistan’s security forces to launch Operation Ghazab-lil-Haqq as part of a coordinated retaliatory response.
According to official sources, at least 72 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and more than 120 others injured in the retaliatory action, while multiple militant positions, logistics hubs, and military installations were destroyed. Pakistani forces delivered what officials described as an effective and decisive response to the aggression, as authorities also warned that Taliban elements were spreading fake videos and false claims on social media in an attempt to mislead public opinion about the ground situation.
