PM extends congratulations to Majtaba Khamenei on assumption of Iran’s Supreme Leadership

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially communicated with Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Majtaba Khamenei, through a formal letter. In his message, he conveyed his sympathies regarding the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei and offered Pakistan’s prayers and condolences to the Iranian nation and the broader Muslim community.

The letter highlights that the people of Pakistan are profoundly grief-stricken over the loss of Ayatollah Khamenei. During this challenging period, Pakistan has expressed its solidarity with Iran’s leadership and citizens.

The Prime Minister extended his congratulations to Majtaba Khamenei on his new role as Iran’s Supreme Leader. He expressed optimism that under his guidance, Iran will progress towards peace, stability, dignity, and economic prosperity in the coming years.

Reaffirming the strong bonds between the two nations, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan and Iran share common faith, history, cultural ties, and language. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining and deepening cooperation with Iran across various fields for mutual benefit.

Additionally, the Prime Minister prayed for the health and success of Majtaba Khamenei, and for peace, stability, and prosperity for the Iranian people.

It is important to note that recently, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred along with other family members amidst heightened tensions and aggressive actions by the United States and Israel. Following his martyrdom, his son, Majtaba Khamenei, was elected as the new Supreme Leader two days ago.

The United States, under President Trump, and Israel have announced intentions to target the new Iranian leadership, raising regional and international concerns.
