Youm-e-Ali processions conclude smoothly across Pakistan: Mohsin Naqvi

KARACHI: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Wednesday that the processions held on Youm-e-Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) concluded peacefully throughout Pakistan.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi expressed his gratitude, stating, “All Youm-e-Ali processions across Pakistan wrapped up peacefully before Maghrib today. I sincerely appreciate the cooperation of license holders and religious scholars nationwide during these challenging times. Kudos to the police and district administrations for their outstanding efforts. This year was particularly sensitive due to the prevailing security situation. My salute to our security and intelligence agencies for thwarting numerous threats in recent days and ensuring public safety.”

In Karachi, the main procession culminated at Imambargah Hussainiya Iranian. The procession started from Nishtar Park, passing through designated routes before reaching Kharadar, where a large number of mourners gathered inside the imambargah to mark the conclusion of the event.

Robust security measures were enforced along the procession routes, with a heavy deployment of police and Pakistan Rangers personnel to maintain law and order. Authorities sealed several routes with containers and conducted search and sweep operations along the procession paths and surrounding streets to prevent any untoward incidents.
