ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has publicly distanced himself from the ongoing money laundering investigation involving his sister, Dr Fazeela Abbasi, urging that his name not be linked to the case.
In a statement shared on social media, Abbasi clarified that he has no legal connection to the matter and is not part of any investigation by authorities. He expressed concern that media coverage was creating an impression of his involvement, which he firmly denied.
“I am not associated with this case in any capacity, nor am I under investigation by any agency. Therefore, no comments should be expected from me on this matter,” he stated.
Despite distancing himself legally, Abbasi voiced support for his sister, describing her as a seasoned professional with a successful career. He said he stands by her and believes in her integrity, while also emphasizing that her side of the story should be heard.
He further expressed hope that Pakistani institutions would handle the case with fairness and transparency, allowing the truth to emerge.
The development comes as legal proceedings against Dr Fazeela Abbasi continue. The Islamabad High Court earlier rejected petitions seeking to dismiss the money laundering case. Additionally, a special central court in Islamabad declined to extend her pre-arrest bail, prompting the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to form teams for her arrest.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities examine alleged financial transactions linked to the accused.
