KARACHI: Rainfall is expected to hit Karachi from tomorrow as a new weather system approaches, the Met Office has said.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a westerly system entering southwestern Balochistan is likely to trigger rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms across parts of the country, with chances of isolated hailstorms.

In Sindh, areas including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, and Sukkur are expected to receive rain and thunderstorms between April 2 and 4.

The weather pattern is also set to impact several other regions. Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is forecast in parts of Balochistan such as Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, the Makran coastal belt, and Lasbela.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts like Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kalam may experience rain and thunderstorms, while higher altitudes could see snowfall.

Meanwhile, parts of Punjab, including Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sargodha, are also likely to receive rain accompanied by strong winds. Heavier downpours are expected in Dera Ghazi Khan and nearby areas.

Regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are forecast to receive rain and thunderstorms as well, with snowfall likely in mountainous areas.

The Met Office added that temperatures across the country are expected to drop noticeably, and the current weather spell could extend further depending on system intensity.
