Ambani–Epstein links spark debate over India–U.S. strategic ties

WEB DESK: Developments tied to the United States Department of Justice suggest that India’s growing alignment with Israel during the early years of Narendra Modi may have intersected with the influence of a discreet and controversial international network.

An investigation reported by globla media reveals that discussions around India’s Israel policy surfaced in communications involving convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein, who appeared to position himself as an informal adviser to industrialist Anil Ambani.

According to the report, Epstein promoted the idea of deeper strategic cooperation with Israel, particularly in defense and intelligence sectors.

These discussions allegedly included recommendations for defense and intelligence acquisitions worth nearly $2 billion, aimed at strengthening India’s rapport with Washington.

Epstein later reportedly cited these developments as evidence of his own influence while speaking with individuals connected to Qatar’s royal elite.

During this time, Epstein is said to have projected himself as someone with insider-level access to key figures within the administration of Donald Trump.

He allegedly provided early indications about cabinet reshuffles and foreign policy directions, some of which later aligned with actual developments.

Reports indicate that Ambani engaged Epstein through private communication channels to gain insights into geopolitical and defense-related matters.

Epstein also reportedly opened doors for Ambani by offering introductions to prominent U.S. personalities, including Steve Bannon and Tom Barrack.

Through the same network, Ambani is believed to have explored opportunities for high-level interactions, including outreach to Jared Kushner.

Leveraging his ties with institutions like the Atlantic Council and the International Peace Institute, Epstein is said to have hosted exclusive gatherings intended to elevate Ambani’s international standing.

Financial data reflects a steep decline in Ambani’s wealth from roughly $45 billion to about $1.7 billion over the same timeframe.

Epstein, however, reportedly framed his role as purely informal, maintaining that his guidance was offered on a personal basis without expectation of payment.

On May 23, 2019, Ambani met Epstein at his residence in Manhattan, coinciding with the announcement of India’s general election results.

This meeting occurred only weeks before Epstein’s arrest on charges related to sex trafficking.

Analysts have drawn connections between India’s 2017 shift toward Israel and subsequent defense agreements, though no definitive evidence establishes a direct causal link to Epstein’s involvement.

The unofficial networks and personal relationships may have influenced certain foreign policy discussions.

The controversial 2016 Rafale fighter jet agreement has also been examined within this broader context, particularly due to the participation of firms linked to Ambani’s group.

Following the disclosure of these messages in March 2026, there have been reports of increased scrutiny and potential financial repercussions, although many details remain unconfirmed.

The issue is further complicated by Epstein’s widely documented criminal history and allegations surrounding his global network, which continue to raise concerns about the nature of his associations.
