TEHRAN: Iranian state media on Monday confirmed the death of Majid Khademi, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), though details surrounding the incident remain limited.
According to an official IRGC statement carried by Fars News Agency, Khademi was killed in what was described as a “terrorist attack” attributed to what authorities called an American-Israeli alliance. Regional broadcaster Al Jazeera also cited the statement, while Israeli media reports suggested he died in a targeted strike.
Khademi held the rank of brigadier general and was a key figure within Iran’s security apparatus. He had been serving as head of the IRGC’s Intelligence Protection Organisation since 2022 and later assumed leadership of the corps’ Intelligence Organisation in 2025.
His appointment to the top intelligence role came after the death of his predecessor, Mohammad Kazemi, who was killed along with other IRGC officers during Israeli airstrikes in June 2025 amid a brief but intense conflict.
The latest development adds to rising tensions in the region, with no independent confirmation yet available regarding the circumstances of Khademi’s death.
