HANGU: At least seven militants were killed while a police officer embraced martyrdom during a major joint operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), police, and other security agencies in Hangu.
District Police Officer Tariq Habib said the operation targeted militant hideouts in the Bagtu Top Sarki and Chamba Gul areas, where several terrorists hideouts were successfully destroyed. Security personnel, including members of the Al-Baraq Force, engaged in intense exchanges with the militants.
The DPO reaffirmed the resolve of law enforcement agencies to eliminate terrorism and foil any attempts to destabilize the region.
Funeral prayers for the martyred policeman were held at the Police Lines with full honors.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the police and security forces for the successful operation, praising their professionalism and courage in neutralizing the militants linked to Fitna al-Khwarij.
He paid tribute to the fallen officer, calling his sacrifice a testament to the bravery of Pakistan’s security forces. The minister also expressed his wishes for the swift recovery of the injured personnel.
