KARACHI: Police are actively searching for the son of a former SSP following a firing incident in the Clifton area of Karachi that left a man critically injured.
According to officials, investigators are using surveillance footage from Safe City and S-IV camera systems to track the suspect, Agha Shaheer, son of retired police officer Agha Asghar. Initial findings suggest that the suspect’s vehicle was traced moving towards Shikarpur.
Police from the South Zone had earlier recovered the vehicle involved in the incident. It was found to be registered under the name of Agha Asghar and still bore its original number plates.
Law enforcement agencies have carried out overnight raids to apprehend the suspect, who is wanted in an attempted murder case. Authorities confirmed that directives have been issued by Sindh’s leadership, including the chief minister and home minister, to ensure his swift arrest.
Senior police officials, including the Inspector General of Sindh Police and the AIG Karachi, have also ordered intensified efforts in the investigation.
Officials added that inquiries are underway to determine the whereabouts of Agha Shaheer and identify anyone who may be assisting him. They warned that individuals providing shelter to the suspect will also face legal action.
The incident occurred on Thursday when, following a heated argument, the accused allegedly opened fire on a government official, leaving him seriously wounded.
