Pakistan Army targets Afghan positions in Chaman after border clashes

CHAMAN: The Pakistan Army carried out retaliatory strikes in the Chaman sector on Tuesday, destroying multiple Afghan Talban positions in response to cross-border firing.

Officials stated that Pakistani forces struck several installations, including Sarshan, Al-Marjan, and Edhi posts, following what they described as unprovoked aggression involving militants linked to the Tehreek Talban Pakistan(TTP).

Security sources emphasized that the military remains committed to defending the country’s borders and countering threats posed by militant groups and their supporters. They added that ongoing  “Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq” will continue until its strategic objectives are fully achieved.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afganistan have escalated over the past year, largely due to Islamabad’s concerns over militant groups operating from Afghan territory.

A day earlier, Pakistani forces also responded to firing incidents in the Angoor Adda area, where several Afghan positions were reportedly destroyed after civilians came under attack. Three civilians, including two women, were injured in the incident and later shifted to a hospital in Wana for medical treatment.

In another exchange in the Zalolkhail area near Angoor Adda, additional Afghan posts were reportedly targeted during retaliatory action.

Local residents have condemned the cross-border firing incidents and called for firm action to ensure the safety of civilians in border regions.
