Gunfire erupts outside Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, no injuries reported

WEB DESK: Gunfire erupted late Saturday night outside a café in Surrey, close to an eatery owned by comedian Kapil Sharma, raising fresh concerns about the safety of Indian-linked businesses in Canada.

The incident occurred outside Chai Sutta Bar, located next to Kap’s Cafe on 120 Street. Witness videos circulating online appear to show several shots being fired while customers and staff were still inside. Police arrived at the scene, but no injuries were reported, and authorities have yet to release detailed information or confirm any arrests.

Shortly after the shooting, a social media account allegedly connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility. The post included threats directed at both the café owner and Sharma, warning that Kap’s Cafe and even Sharma’s residence in Mumbai could be targeted. It also issued a demand for Sharma to “come on the line,” language often associated with extortion attempts.

Officials have not verified the credibility of the post or its link to the gang.
