Fire breaks out in green line express power coach near mehrabpur

MEHRABPUR: A fire erupted in the power coach of the Green Line Express near Lakha Road station in the Mehrabpur area on Tuesday, forcing railway officials to temporarily stop the train and launch emergency response efforts.

According to railway authorities, the incident took place while the train was en route to Karachi. The blaze reportedly started in the power van near Lakha Road, prompting officials to halt the train at the nearby railway station as a precautionary measure.

Railway workers and emergency teams quickly responded and succeeded in extinguishing the fire before it spread to passenger compartments. No deaths or injuries were reported.

Officials from the Railway Administration said initial assessments indicate that the ongoing severe heat wave may have played a role in triggering the fire. They noted that extreme temperatures have recently caused technical faults in several railway engines and power units.

Authorities added that repair work on the damaged coach was in progress, and the train would continue its journey once technical inspections and safety procedures were completed.
