LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the provincial government is actively working to upgrade 2,000 villages through the Model Village Programme, providing residents with state-of-the-art amenities.
In her address at the World Urban Forum held in Baku, she highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity within Punjab by developing new highways and infrastructure, all while addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
The CM also emphasized the government’s focus on boosting tourism in the region. She noted that Lahore has recently been recognized as a key cultural city by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is expected to promote cultural exchange and tourism.
Furthermore, she mentioned the implementation of the “Suthra Punjab Project,” which aims to establish an extensive sanitation network across the province. To ensure safety and maintain law and order, CCTV surveillance has been expanded throughout Punjab.
