ISLAMABAD: Social media influencer and scholar Sahil Adeem has filed an application with the Islamabad High Court (IHC), requesting protective bail amid concerns over his potential arrest in multiple cases registered in various cities, including Karachi.

Accompanied by his legal team, Adeem submitted a petition to the IHC, highlighting the imminent threat of arrest across different jurisdictions. The petition emphasized his willingness to cooperate with the courts and face the legal proceedings, but expressed fear of being detained before he can do so.

The plea also requested the court to expedite the hearing process, citing the urgency and sensitivity of the matter. Adeem sought a temporary protective bail to enable him to appear before courts in different provinces and defend himself lawfully.

In a related development, Karachi’s city court had issued arrest warrants for Sahil Adeem earlier in 2024, accusing him of using offensive language against the state. The court had scheduled his appearance for September 24.

Additionally, a resolution was presented to the Sindh Assembly Secretariat condemning Adeem’s controversial remarks about women made on a recent private television show. Lawmaker Marvi Faseeh introduced the resolution, condemning the comments as a breach of social, religious, and legal norms, and expressing concern over the impact on women’s dignity.
