LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued directives to Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers to intensify scrutiny at bus terminals and on buses throughout the province in anticipation of Eid-ul-Azha.
In her instructions, she emphasized the importance of displaying official fare charts prominently on every bus and at all bus stations to curb passenger exploitation through overcharging.
Maryam Nawaz also instructed authorities to revoke route permits for any buses found involved in unfair practices and to cancel licenses of bus terminals that fail to comply with regulations.
To facilitate passenger complaints, the Punjab Transport Department has launched a dedicated helpline (1071). Commuters are encouraged to report incidents of overcharging and other grievances by contacting this helpline for swift resolution.
