ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday praised the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their active participation in the recently held general elections, describing the polling process as peaceful, transparent, and democratic.
In a statement issued from Islamabad, the prime minister congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for emerging as the leading political force in the region. He extended his felicitations to President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on their party’s performance in the elections.
Shehbaz Sharif also acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates, commending them for running a strong campaign and showing dedication throughout the electoral process.
The premier congratulated all successful candidates, regardless of party affiliation, and appreciated the enthusiasm displayed by voters across Gilgit-Baltistan.
Describing the orderly conduct of the elections as a reflection of democratic values, he lauded the Election Commission for ensuring a free and fair voting process.
He further praised police and security agencies for maintaining peace and security during the polls, enabling citizens to exercise their right to vote without disruption.
