QUETTA: Sardar Akhtar Mengal, head of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), has voluntarily handed back all payments received as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), depositing the total amount with the National Assembly Secretariat for transfer to the national treasury.
Mengal visited the Secretariat on Thursday to submit a cheque amounting to Rs7,892,725, representing the full sum of his earnings during his tenure as an MNA.

Along with the cheque, Mengal submitted a letter explaining his decision. In this correspondence, he clarified that he was returning the salaries earned from September 3, 2024, to February 11, 2026.
Mengal emphasized that since his resignation in September 2024, he had not withdrawn any salary or allowances from his bank account. He requested the Secretariat to transfer the funds from his parliamentary account to the national coffers.
The BNP leader reaffirmed his dedication to principles of integrity and transparency in public service.
It is noteworthy that Mengal resigned from his parliamentary seat in NA-256 Khuzdar on September 3, 2024, citing opposition to what he described as the parliament’s inadequate response to Balochistan’s issues. His resignation was officially accepted by the Speaker of the National Assembly on February 11, 2026.
