DOHA: In a significant diplomatic visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Doha today to personally express Pakistan’s condolences to the leadership and people of Qatar over the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Father Amir.
Accompanied by senior officials including former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Information Minister Atta Ullah Tarar, the Prime Minister engaged with Qatari officials and paid tribute to Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa’s visionary leadership. During his visit, he met with Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to convey Pakistan’s heartfelt sympathies on this moment of national mourning.
Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted Sheikh Hamad’s pivotal role in Qatar’s remarkable development, regional stability, and his contributions to fostering peace. He also fondly recalled the late leader’s warmth, kindness, and deep affection for Pakistan, noting his numerous visits to the country over the years that strengthened bilateral ties.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support, the Prime Minister prayed for Sheikh Hamad’s soul to find peace in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and for strength to be bestowed upon the Qatari Royal family and citizens during this difficult time.
The Qatari Amir expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, and the delegation for their personal gesture of condolence. He described the visit as a testament to the enduring fraternal bond shared between Pakistan and Qatar, emphasizing the importance of their strong relationship rooted in mutual respect and friendship.
