Pakistan, EU reassert commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the European Union have reiterated their dedication to deepening collaboration under the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan.

This reaffirmation was made during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, held on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila today.

Kaja Kallas, the EU’s top diplomat, expressed appreciation for her recent bilateral visit to Islamabad for the 8th round of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue. Both leaders exchanged views on regional issues, highlighting that sustained diplomatic efforts are essential for achieving lasting peace and stability, especially concerning the US-Iran situation.

The discussions also covered broader regional security concerns, global energy markets, maritime security, and trade routes, with an emphasis on the need for ongoing dialogue and strict adherence to international law.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to the proper implementation of all international conventions supporting the GSP Plus framework. He also highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s economic partnership with the European Union and its importance for the country’s economic development.
