SWAT: In a significant security operation in Swat’s Matta area, security forces managed to kill four terrorists, while an Elite Force constable sacrificed his life, security officials confirmed.
According to sources, police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) launched a joint mission targeting militants in the region. During the operation, forces regained control of a key position in the Rashid Sar sector of Matta. The operation is ongoing, with authorities aiming to completely dismantle the threat posed by the militant group, Fitna al-Khawarij.
Security officials reported that the terrorists had taken refuge inside a house and were using residents as human shields. In the firefight, Elite Force constable Gulfam Khan was martyred while bravely confronting the militants.
Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly appealed to the Afghan Taliban to curb militant groups operating across the border. When the Taliban administration failed to meet these expectations, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February this year to counter cross-border militant incursions originating from Afghanistan.
