ECP woman employee dies after falling into swan river while filming TikTok

RAWALPINDI: A 28-year-old employee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) drowned in the Swan River after falling from a bridge while reportedly recording a TikTok video.

The incident took place at a bridge in Phase One of Defence Housing Authority, where the woman, identified by police as Komal Jan, reportedly lost her balance while on a motorcycle and fell into the river.

Rescue teams later recovered her body from the water. Following a postmortem examination, the authorities handed over the body to her family for burial.

Police initially investigated whether the incident was accidental or involved any other circumstances, including the possibility of suicide.

During the inquiry, investigators found that one mobile phone belonging to Komal was inside her handbag, which had been left on the motorcycle, while she was using another phone to record the video.

Police said eyewitness accounts and other evidence collected during the investigation indicated that she accidentally lost her balance and fell into the river.

Authorities subsequently declared the incident a tragic accident. The deceased woman’s family also did not raise any allegations against anyone in connection with her death.
