KARACHI: An Additional District and Sessions Court South has acquitted Anmol alias Pinky in a drug case registered in 2021 after accepting her plea for acquittal.
The court approved the application after Anmol’s defence argued that two other accused in the case, Ali and Fehmida, had already been acquitted in 2024.
According to the defence, the case against Anmol was largely based on statements attributed to the two co-accused. Since both had subsequently been acquitted, her lawyer maintained that there was not enough independent evidence to justify her conviction.
After hearing the arguments, the court accepted the plea and cleared Anmol of the charges in the case registered at Gizri Police Station.
Anmol’s arrest in May
Anmol was arrested on May 12, 2026, during a joint operation by Karachi police and a federal intelligence agency in the Garden area.
Police claimed to have recovered around 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, a 9mm pistol and chemicals allegedly used in the preparation of cocaine.
Investigators later linked her to a number of cases in Sindh and Lahore, although the total number of cases cited by authorities changed at different stages. A CTD interim challan submitted in July mentioned 21 cases.
Police have accused Anmol of involvement in drug trafficking and allegedly operating an organised narcotics network. The cases include charges under drug and weapons laws, along with allegations relating to attempted murder and murder.
These allegations remain before the courts and have not resulted in convictions.
Other proceedings continue
Despite the latest acquittal, Anmol still faces several other cases.
In a murder case registered at Baghdadi Police Station, a Karachi judicial magistrate approved the final police challan on August 5.
Investigators reportedly altered the nature of the charge after a chemical examination indicated that the deceased died from intoxication, resulting in the murder section being removed.
Several other narcotics cases against Anmol are also still pending, with indictment proceedings continuing in some of them.
The latest acquittal is limited to the 2021 Gizri drug case and has no bearing on the other cases currently pending against Anmol alias Pinky.
