GUJRANWALA: Several officials of Gujranwala Teaching Hospital have been suspended following the reported recovery of a large quantity of government-supplied medicines from a private warehouse.
Those suspended include APWMO Dr Shazia Afzal, pharmacist Nighat Saeed, storekeeper Muhammad Asghar and ward cleaner Dawood Noor. They have been instructed to report to the Punjab Health Department.
The provincial authorities have also formed a fact-finding committee to investigate allegations that government medicines were unlawfully removed from the hospital and shifted to a private warehouse.
The Director Monitoring has been appointed convener of the inquiry panel, while an additional secretary and deputy secretary will serve as technical members.
A representative of the Gujranwala district administration has also been included in the committee, which will examine the circumstances surrounding the recovery and determine responsibility.
