Balochistan govt publishes public notice for Ziarat tragedy investigation

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has issued a public notice regarding the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the Ziarat incident.

The notice states that an independent judicial inquiry has been initiated, with Justice Muhammad Amir Nawaz Rana appointed as the head of the commission. The investigation will focus on approximately 12 key points related to the incident.

All relevant parties have been instructed to submit their information and details to the commission’s secretariat by August 28 during official working hours.

The notice also mentions that the schedule for upcoming hearings, including dates, times, and venues, will be announced at a later stage.

This investigation follows the tragic terrorist attack on July 7 in the Mangi Phase III area of Quetta, which resulted in the martyrdom of at least nine police officers.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, security forces engaged in a prolonged firefight with the terrorists throughout the night. The police fought valiantly for several hours before the assailants were neutralized.

The Ziarat Deputy Commissioner highlighted that police personnel resisted fiercely and continued their efforts overnight. He also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate the five police officers who went missing during the attack.

Further information regarding the attack and any related security operations is expected soon.
